Congratulations to Dr. Emmitt Riley III, C’08
Riley’s dissertation examined the factors that permit race to be an influence in the behavior and attitudes of white Americans. One of the reoccurring themes of his work investigates the degree to which experience with African-American leadership can either enhance or alleviate white negative views toward African-Americans generally.
When asked to expound upon his future goals since obtaining a Ph.D., he replied, “My goal is to secure a tenured position at an institution of higher learning, preferably my alma mater Mississippi Valley State University.
Dr. Riley earned his B.A. in Political Science and English Literature from Mississippi Valley State University in 2008, and a master’s degree in Political Science from Jackson State University in 2010.
