CBI with Ms. Cordia McFarland C’09


Cordia McFarland is a 2009 graduate of Mississippi Valley State University. She is currently serving as a Career Base Intervention (CBI) instructor at the Focus Learning High School Columbus in Ohio. “This program is designed to teach students the skills to maintain work ethic in the work place”.

In May of 2011, McFarland was recognized as the Staff Member of the Month. This award is given to one staff employee every month for his or her outstanding service and dedication. At Focus North, Cordia is known for making learning fun, prides herself on empowering students to reach to their full potential, and dedicated to improving the lives of those around her. In addition, she is a consecutive speaker and host of the Focus Learning Academies: Southwest, Southeast, and Focus North High School commencement ceremonies.

While attend MVSU, Cordia was a member of the  Mean Green Marching Machine and Student Support Services.

Atlanta-Metro Alumni recruit new members to the Valley Family!

Mr. Earl Townsend, Jr.’70-chair of the Atlanta-Metro Alumni chapter’s student recruitment committee, stands next to a bulletin board displaying new members of the “Valley Family”. The students were recruited during a mass recruit drive at Langston Hughes High School in Atlanta, GA.

As part of the recruitment drive, “the chapter  collected over 500 applications from perspective students in the Atlanta Metro Area and recently  set a goal to collect a total of 1,000 applications within the next two years,” says  Townsend.

Mr. Michael Jossell C’09 is the Chapter President.
