Billy Knight’63 was recently nominated for a Coast Young Professionals “Forever Young” award! Honorees are those who are inspirational through innovative vision, relentless determination and inspiring spirit. The awards will be announced on Wednesday, June 15, 2016 during the 8th Annual Black Tie and Blue Jeans Gala at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Biloxi, MS. Coast Young Professionals Black Tie & Blue Jeans Gala is an unconventional awards program designed to honor ten accomplished and influential leaders of the Mississippi Gulf Coast.

MVSU Alumnus receives promotion at NASA

Darryl Gaines

Mr. Darryl Gaines, a 1988 Kansas City Chief and member of the Houston Chapter NFL Players Association, has been selected as NASA’s Assistant to the Center Director at Johnson Space Center in Houston, Texas. He transitioned into this role effective May 9, 2016. In this capacity, Darryl serves as a member of the Center Director’s Staff responsible for policy development, staff relations, strategic planning, and management integration of technical, mission support, and communications endeavors. Mr. Earl Townsend, Recruitment Chair of the MVSU NAA Atlanta Metro Alumni Chapter, recently visited Langston Hughes High School in Fairburn, GA to meet with three students planning to attend Mississippi Valley State University in the fall. Tiffany will attend MVSU on a Presidential Scholarship

In addition, the Atlanta Metro Alumni Chapter recently initiated the Counselor of the Year recognition program to highlight a High School Counselor who collaborates with the local chapter to enhance Atlanta Metro Students educational experience by encouraging them to attend college, preferably MVSU. Ms. Sandra Allen was named the 2015-16 Counselor of the Year.
